Nationalism in JIPA Fest
Five days performances Jogja International Performing Arts Festival finishes since it began on November 26 and at auditorium PPPPTK Yogyakarta. Nine countries, including Indonesia, as the host presents the work of young artists in the field of performing arts. Vera Siak Dance Co. performed with the characteristics of their region, Sunday (30/11).
Title dance “Genthak” inspired by the ceremony Bulian treatment. Bulian a public ritual activity Talang Mamak to perform the treatment of the someone who is sick by means of traditional medicine in the form of ritual.
The ritual was led by a male shaman who daily called Kumantan. This area is isolated by the name Talang Jerinjing, Rengat, Riau. The dance lasted 22 minutes as well as introducing Indonesian culture through the performing arts as well as the international level despite JIPA Fest 2014.
The last day Jogja International Performing Arts Festival 2014 featuring five sessions, among others Mila Rosinta and Ari Gedex (Body Parts), Kinanti Sekar (Donga Draupadi), Vera Siak Dance (Genthak), Maya Soelaeman (Be-longing), and Danang Pamungkas (A Part of Passion).-[rovitavare/jogjatoday]
