Indonesia and India In One Stage
Indian Embassy in Jakarta held the Festival of India with the slogan “Friends of India” took place from January to May 2015 in 15 major cities including Yogyakarta.
To further enhance good relations between India and Indonesia, India, Indonesia Festival 2015 took place in 15 cities in Indonesia starting from Jakarta, Denpasar, Yogyakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Surakarta, Semarang, Bogor, Serang, Purwakarta, Makassar, Medan, Padang, Banda Aceh, Samarinda, Balikpapan and Palembang.
In Yogyakarta, the event took place on Friday night (13/3) at the Open Stage Prambanan Ramayana, featuring dance Mayur Nritya or Peacock Dance and Phoolon Ki Holi Dance or Dance Flower Festival.
Deputy Chief of Mission Mr. Art India Manish explained that dance Flower Festival is the highlight performances exhibited by Indian Folk Dance Group is a sacred ritual dances by using a sprinkling of hundreds of flowers as offerings to the Gods.
Indian art performances in Yogyakarta was held in cooperation with PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko by the Indian Embassy in Jakarta.
According to Director of Operations PT TWC Borobudur, Prambanan and Ratu Boko, Retno Hardiasiwi, the purpose of the event is to introduce the culture of India as well as providing value-based culture and arts education to the people of Indonesia.
“The synergy of culture is expected to strengthen the relationship and opens up the possibility of cooperation in the field of art, culture, education and tourism,” she added.[rovitavare/jogjatoday]
